Pro Tip: For brand new glass jump right to Step 4.

1.Ensure glass repairs are finished before beginning the HydroGuard process.

2. Make sure the glass is relatively cool. Use glass cleaner to clean the glass and wipers.

Pro Tip: This step is not necessary if the windshield is new.

3. For best results, use ProClean Glass Restorer to remove debris and glass coatings. If you don’t have that, spray glass cleaner on steel wool.

4. Use the coating applicator and apply a liberal amount to the pad with side to side then up and down strokes, about ⅓ of the windshield at a time. Keep moving in one area to “buff off” and excess haze. Repeat on all quadrants, making sure to overlap.

5. Buff thoroughly with your GlasWeld microfiber cloth. If working on hot glass, or sunlight, do this for each quadrant.

6. Allow to cure for 8 hours before using wipers or going through a car wash.

Pro Tip: For max life, replace wiper blades and use touchless car wash.

FAQs

What is HydroGuard, and how does it work?

HydroGuard is an advanced glass protection treatment designed to repel water, dirt, and debris from your vehicle’s windshield. It creates a hydrophobic barrier on the glass, allowing water to bead up and roll off, improving visibility and reducing the need for wipers in rainy and snowy conditions. HydroGuard is designed to withstand a range of environmental conditions, from freezing winters to hot summers. Its durable formula provides consistent protection and water repellency in various climates. HydroGuard is designed to work on automotive windshields and other external windows. It can be used on windshields, auto side and back glass, shower doors, and residential windows.

Why should I add HydroGuard as a service to my current business?

Great question, we’ve got the answer! This product has great margins. Your upfront cost is as low as $24.95 for one HydroGuard pack which can complete 2-3 windshields or 1 entire car. Techs who use HydroGuard can charge $75 – $125 USD for a windshield, and up to $200 for the entire car.

  • Easy upsell to customers
  • Great margins for your business
  • Longer lasting (vs. traditional ceramic coatings)
  • Durability
  • Ease of application

How long does HydroGuard last once applied?

HydroGuard offers long-lasting protection, typically lasting 6-12 months on a car windshield and up to 3 years on side and back glass, depending on driving conditions and environmental factors such as staying in direct sunlight.

How is HydroGuard applied? Can I apply it myself?

HydroGuard can be applied either by professionals or as a DIY solution. Simply follow the provided instructions for a smooth application. For best results, use ProClean glass restorer (briefly) to remove debris and glass coatings and get the best chemical bond. If you don’t have that, spray glass cleaner on 0000 steel wool and remove any old coatings or debris. (Not necessary if the windshield is new). View our quick start guide HERE for the full process.

How do I clean my windshield after applying HydroGuard?

Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner to clean your windshield after applying HydroGuard. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could strip the coating.

Can HydroGuard be applied over other glass treatments?

For best results, we recommend removing any previous glass treatments before applying HydroGuard to ensure proper bonding and maximum performance. If needed, HydroGuard can be removed by cleaning the windshield with a glass polish or abrasive cleaner. This may be useful if you need to reapply the treatment after prolonged use.

Will HydroGuard interfere with my wipers or make my windshield look foggy?

No, HydroGuard is formulated to enhance visibility without causing any haziness or interference with your wipers. Its transparent barrier does not distort vision or leave a film. To get maximum life, we suggest replacing the wiper blades and using a touchless carwash.

Can I treat the entire body of my car with HydroGuard?

Yes, although it is not recommended because HydroGuard’s durability on plastics and metal is much less than on glass.
